Boone County Family Resources is a growing community-based agency supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to thrive, connect, and achieve their goals. What You’ll Do

As a Community Skills Specialist, you’ll work primarily with high school–aged youth and young adults into early evening hours. You’ll provide one‑on‑one and group support in homes, workplaces, and community settings. Daily activities include:

  • Teaching skills like cooking, budgeting, and using public transportation
  • Supporting youth in exploring careers, building work skills, and finding jobs
  • Helping individuals set and achieve personal goals
  • Documenting progress using a web-based data system

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and empowering young people.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, not required
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred
  • Ability to obtain a Class E Chauffeur’s License
  • Access to a licensed and insured vehicle
  • Strong communication, organization, and reliability
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screening

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Early evening hours required

  • Starting at $18/hour
  • Merit-based raises at 6 months, 1 year, and annually
